Relaxing little breaths tip!
Try playing repeated notes and opening your mouth and taking a little breath in between each note. This helps:
I hope this helps! Any questions, please ask! Emma @ Recorder Help Desk!
Have you ever wondered why your recorder consort isn't absolutely together? CHECK you are all using the SAME ARTICULATION. I recommend in my 'IMPROVE YOUR RECORDER TECHNIQUE BOOKLETS NO.1: RECORDER TECHNIQUE FROM SINGING - BREATHING & BASIC ARTICULATION' the following articulations, which, if you all use, will make your ensemble much tighter and cleaner:
Doo - normal articulation
Too - accented note
Di - staccato note
Ti - accented staccato note
CONSORT WITH ME! One part left out for you to play in a REMOTE consort with me!
We're all missing making music with others and the lack of recorder consort playing is leaving a BIG HOLE in our lives. So, come and PLAY in a REMOTE CONSORT WITH ME!
Only £10 gets you 30 minutes of music to play along with me. Repertoire covers the renaissance, baroque and modern. It's great fun! It's not the REAL thing, but it's pretty close.... Subscribe here:
Hi again, I promised I'd post some repertoire suggestions you could move onto with your new double tonguing skills!! So, here are a few for you to try. Good luck! X Emma @ Recorder Helpdesk!
You can also play along with ME in the following video! I have left the top part out for you to play on EITHER SOPRANO or ALTO recorder. The music is below. Two ERRORS in the score: Part 1, bar 26, 6th note should be a C instead of a D; and Part 2, bar 47, 1st note should be a C (tied over from bar 25).
If you enjoy this, then why not subscribe to my CONSORT WITH ME page. I'd love to offer these for free, but it's so time consuming finding repertoire, links, recording all the parts & paying for the app to create them...(sorry!) Details found here:

Crotchet/Quarter note is 112. ENJOY! And GOOD LUCK! Let me know how you get on in the COMMENTS below. If you have any questions, PLEASE ASK! Watch this Space for more Blog posts and suggested repertoire for you to look at. Emma @ Recorder Helpdesk!

I hope this helps! Good luck with it! Emma @ Recorder Helpdesk!
By the way, this hadn’t been the first ‘proper’ piece I had intended to move onto, but after thinking about it and its repeated notes, I thought it would be a fun one to work on over the Easter weekend. I promise the initial piece I had thought to move onto, in the next video, will be easier to get to grips with!
