I do not play an alto, do not own an alto.
For this lesson, the fingers used seem to be important. So, I wrote the names of the notes onto the page that let me match what you are doing but on a soprano.
Possibly, could future lessons have a choice of C or F versions?

And, it was reassuring to hear you say that this is very difficult! I could play exercises #1 and #2 without trouble but #3, and those following, will take lots more work!
Thanks

Hi Katherine, Thanks for alerting me to this. I have added a version of the download for soprano recorder, available NOW. I'm so glad you're taking the challenge! It isn't easy and there won't be a quick end result, but it's good to give it a go. And it provides a focus and challenge during these unsettling times...
Stay safe and well X

Hi Emma, Thank you again for posting these tutorial videos. All three have been very helpful! I do have trouble with the lower notes at times and achieving clean articulation double tonguing when playing the lower end of the tenor range and bass recorder. Stay well and I look forward to the next tutorial!

Hi Ed, I’m so glad the videos have been helpful! Double tonguing on lower notes and on larger recorders is definitely more difficult. Check you’re keeping your throat open and your lower jaw as relaxed as possible, and try modifying the articulation syllables you’re using from, for example, Doo and Goo to Loo and Roo. I hope that helps! Good luck! X Emma

i don't own a treble either. only a tenor. i've been doing the excercises using notes upper D, E, F & G, lower notes B, A, G F.
I've got stuck at the 9 note excercise! so sticking to the 5 for the time being.

Well done Vee! Everyone should work at their own pace. I have included the exercises for both F and C instruments so you can download them for tenor (C instrument version). Take a look on the Shop page. Part 2 exercises, for both instruments, will be added VERY SOON.... Good luck!

Hi Emma I am enjoying your tutorials very much, however, 40 minutes ago I purchased downloads of the first 3 sets of exercises for alto recorder. The first page did not save and now I can’t retrieve it. The other pages have transferred into Safari (on an ipad) but when I save them as pdf’s in IBooks they have saved but some of the ends of lines are missing and some at the bottom of the page have split and appeared on another page and cannot be read. This is very disappointing. I would appreciate a new link to exercise one as I it has completely disappeared.
Thank you
Geraldine
